Living Near the Airport

Blackpool airport is currently having over £1million worth refurbishment invested into the terminal building. Once these have been completed the airport will provide 16 check-in desks, 8 departure gates, 5,000 sq ft in retail space, new and improved spacious lounge
area and an additional baggage reclaim carousel.
A new north-west airline was launched earlier in 2005 called 'A2B Airways. This new service will boost tourism and business in the Blackpool area, offering up to 60 flights per week to Belfast and the Isle of Man. A2B Airways also plan to run a twice-daily service to Amsterdam which is due to start in September 2005.
The latest development from Blackpool International Airport is the announcement that Monarch Airlines are going to start a daily
service to Malaga. These flights are planned to begin in the winter of 2005.
The expansion of Blackpool airport will inevitably have an effect on the surrounding areas. Not only will there be an increase in the
amount of jobs and tourism in the local area, but there could also be a knock on effect on surrounding house prices. With frequent flyers wanting to move closer to the airport this could have a positive effect on the local housing market.
